I myself studied abroad in Sweden for a year when I was a high school student, but it was my first time studying abroad. I remember wondering what I should or should not bring with me.
Also, I am currently living in Switzerland, and since I rarely go out to the city, it is difficult for me to get Japanese goods.
Even if you can get it, you may be surprised at the amount of money it costs in Switzerland.
Therefore, we would like to introduce some Japanese items that are useful for studying & living abroad.
toothbrush
What? You don't sell toothbrushes?" But they do sell toothbrushes. But the bristles are sometimes very large. As for toothpaste, there are many different kinds, so I am trying something I have never used in Japan.
Japanese toothbrushes are great with many variations of small ones.
Mechanical pencils (stationery in general)
You can also get this stuff overseas, but the Japanese made stuff is still of good quality! The paper quality is good, and the ink output of the pens is excellent! Even in Switzerland, Japanese Pilot stationery has such a good reputation that they have set up a special section for it.
The author recommends the well-known mechanical pencils by Pilot Corporation. I have been using them since I was a high school student.
Incidentally, I have the impression that Swiss people do not use mechanical pencils themselves very often. The majority of them write directly on their school notebooks with ballpoint pens as well. Therefore, it is difficult to find a comfortable mechanical pencil.
eye drops
There are many kinds of eye drops in Japan, but only two or three kinds are available in stores in Switzerland.
And the prices are high. However, contact lenses and other supplies are available, so there is no need to bring a complete set from Japan.
The author is in desperate need of eye drops, so the Japanese ones come in handy.
Rohto's "Z" can be a good souvenir. People are surprised because there are no cool-type eye drops in Switzerland.
Cell Phone Covers & Accessories
Nowadays, you can buy them online, but even so, some models are only available in Japan, and it is best to look for functional and fashionable cell phone covers in Japan.
The Wander Case by b!tplay, which the author really wanted, has a hook on the phone cover, making it perfect for outdoor activities. The hook prevents the phone from falling out of the case and can be used by hooking it to a backpack, pants, etc. However, as you can see in the photo, I have the impression that the weight of the cover and the phone does not support it well when placed on a desk or something like that. Other than that, it is very easy to use!
glasses
In Japan, you can buy them at a reasonable price. In Switzerland, frames are not expensive, but I hear that lenses for glasses are expensive.
It is hard to make them quickly if they break, so it is also possible to have them as spares.
